Hollywood stars and beyond love Italy for its climate, landscapes, and culture, so much so that some of them have decided to make the Bel Paese not just a destination for short vacations, but the ideal place to buy a home and spend part of the year among the beauties of the land.

The key to building wealth lies in diversifying your investments to secure multiple streams of income. This is a strategy that many Hollywood millionaires have mastered.

Alongside their demanding careers, these astute investors have chosen to channel their earnings into real estate. Whether investing in commercial properties, rental properties, or development projects, they are well-positioned to reap substantial profits.

Tuscany

Tuscany has charmed Sting and his wife Trudie Styler, who have owned the Il Palagio Estate since 1997. Situated south of Florence in the Chianti hills, this 16th-century estate, once the property of Duke Simone Vincenzo Velluti Zati of San Clemente, spans approximately 350 hectares. More than just a residence, Il Palagio functions as a thriving enterprise, with the former Police frontman producing olive oil, wine, honey, and organic products, all available for purchase at the estate’s store. The property also features farmhouses that can be rented for events like receptions and weddings.
The British actor Colin Firth has a strong affection for Italy. Besides owning a house in Tuscany, the Oscar-winning actor also has a residence in Città della Pieve, a small town in the province of Perugia, where he spent many years enjoying his leisure time with his ex-wife.
George Lucas also purchased an old monastery in Passignano sul Trasimeno, surrounded by lush trees and greenery. The refurbished estate covers 800 square meters and is spread across three floors, including guest rooms, a library, a billiard room, and a cozy 20-seat cinema. The property also boasts a church and a 14th-century bell tower.

Venice

Elton John is another artist who fell in love with Italy’s charm. He selected Venice for his holiday home, settling on the island of Giudecca, where he frequently enjoys his leisure time with his children.

Johnny Depp has been a prominent figure for three decades and continues to be one of Hollywood’s most in-demand and well-compensated actors. While shooting “The Tourist,” he became so enamored with Venice that he chose to purchase a residence with views of the Grand Canal, which is said to have cost him approximately 10 million dollars. The property includes a private dock spacious enough for his yacht.

Puglia

Helen Mirren was among the first to recognize the allure of Puglia; she owns a historic farmhouse in Tiggiano, dating back to the 16th century. The property includes a large tower and is encircled by tall walls. Inside, the vaulted ceilings are high and constructed from stone, as are the portals and floors, all made from the same limestone.

Similarly, Meryl Streep was captivated by Puglia’s charm, leading her to purchase a home in Tricase Porto, in the Mito area, with a stunning view of the sea. From this location, the actress can take in breathtaking scenery, including terraced olive groves and trees.
